WU YUMO
Wu Yumo, born in 1995 in Inner Mongolia, China, currently resides and works in Beijing, China, and Düsseldorf, Germany. As an artist dedicated to photography, she perceives the camera to be an extension of her own body, with its capabilities constantly interfacing with her natural vision. She disrupts the traditional logic of photographic techniques, allowing perception to become a method in itself. This enables her to accurately capture those elusive, trembling, and malfunctioning moments of reality and reconstruct them into a new reality that strays from the familiar world.
She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design (2021, with Honors) and a Master of Arts in Photography from the École cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL) in Switzerland (2023, with Mention Excellent). Her accolades include the T.C. Colley Award (the United States, 2021), the Prix La Foncière (Switzerland, 2023), and a nomination for the C/O Berlin Talent Award (Germany, 2024).
