ZHENG YI

ZHENG YI
Zheng Yi, born in 1980 in Tianjin, now lives and works in Beijing, graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Tianjin Academy of Arts and Crafts in 2003.
Since 2010, Zheng Yi has been creating works about “boxes”. Most of these works are related to personal and collective memory and have formed their own internal systems. He used to be influenced by surrealism, assemblage and minimalism, and tried to combine the spirituality of objects with the experience of human life, which is a characteristic of Zen in Chinese aesthetics. Nowadays he pays more attention to the site-specificity of his works, and how to form a dialog and resonance between his works and the public.
