Gene Gallery is delighted to announce the solo exhibition “Whatever Works” by artist Jin Zhiliang, curated by Chen Junyao from September 16, 2023 to October 21, 2023.

Artist Jin Zhiliang humorously transforms modern life into a game, in which he constructs a graphic arena where modern appliances and the human body engage in a bizarre game of catch-up. The utensils and the human body capture each other, creating an unimaginably bizarre fusion – as if a brand new creature is growing in an imaginary space. The human body, in turn, with its own intuition, morphs into a variety of twisted and grotesque implements. The confrontation between these two forms a resonance with a great sense of humour, together conveying a yearning for the essence of nature. Perhaps this kind of unbridled imagination based on nature is the key to unlocking the homogenisation of modern society.
