Gene Gallery is delighted to announce the duo exhibition "Old Fire, New Spring" by artists Kenix Xiaoqing Liang and Noah Schneiderman, from July 21, 2023 to August 31, 2023.
Organisms are in contact with each other, separated by a slippery film of skin, with stains of sweat, tears and cellular fluids reshaping an undesirable field of vision. A sacred flame, an ancient energy, passes through the oral cavity and is transformed by its animal nature, steaming up a searing breath.
The hard canvas is dissolved by steam, and the viewer's gaze merges with the shape of the object in the painting, swallowing up all uneasiness and isolation, just as the sublime religious experience soaks into the wandering fountain of wisdom, and life spreads the liveliness of self-liberation.
Clear plant dye and mineral salt reagent combine to create alternating colours of withered and prosperity. This contradiction highlights the tiny fibers in the canvas, like a dynamic coral group, like a subtropical jungle where day and night alternate. Contingency and human emotion create a synergy that jointly shapes the living beings that inhabit the picture.
This is a space dominated by natural life, where human energy is brought to the boil in a natural furnace.
