Yumo Wu (b.1995, Yakeshi) is an artist specializing in photography. she received her B.F.A. in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2021, where she received Distinguished Honors and the T.C. Colley Prize, and her M.F.A. in Photography from the University of the Arts in Lausanne (ECAL), Switzerland in 2023,
where she received Distinguished Honors and the Prix La Fonciere Award. Honors and Prix La Fonciere. She lives and works in Berlin and Beijing.
Her work re-examines the very nature of photography, adjusting, interfering, and breaking with its elements to imagine differently the established concepts of photography. She proposes a blurring of precision into the photographic system, inviting the viewer to return to a state of simple viewing.
