CONOR QUINN
CONOR QUINN
Conor Quinn (b. 1998) received his master’s degree in painting from the Royal College of Art in 2025.
Quinn’s practice spans painting and soft sculpture, drawing on the character development and narrative techniques of stop-motion animation to explore relationships between bodies.Through handmade puppets and their depiction in painting, he gives private experience a form that can be seen and shared. Individual identities may remain concealed, yet the emotional dynamics between the figures remain tangible. His work maintains a distance between expression and self-disclosure, allowing intimate experience to become visible without requiring it to be fully explained.
In Quinn’s work, a shared figure often takes shape through the continuous coordination of distinct bodies. Soft fabric connects them, while each body brings its own weight, rhythm and intention to the encounter. Humour arises from the effort of sustaining this figure, making palpable the frictions, misalignments and differences within mutual dependence. Intimacy emerges less as a stable condition than as an ongoing process of adjustment: living together requires continually making room for one another’s differences.
